The Mount Vernon High School weight room has experienced major, positive changes thanks to Dave and Carol Van Metre. The weight room has been updated with new flooring and equipment. Dave, a Mount Vernon class of 1955 graduate, also provided weight training and fitness equipment to Mount Vernon in 2000 and to the new high school in 2005. The Van Metres also donated sports equipment to schools in Omaha and Colorado. Carol passed away in June of 2016.
