The cheer squad held an outstanding performance before the powderpuff game for Homecoming week.

The cheer squad of 17 members performed a dance to the song “One Two Step” by Sierra. The performance was around five minutes long. “I think it actually went very well,”  junior Nora Weiland, a cheerleader, said. “We didn’t drop anyone on our stunts and no one messed up.”

Some of the moves the cheer team did were the pyramid and they also did two stars, which is a stunt where they have three cheerleaders lift one other cheerleader into the air, and they make a shape like a star.

The cheer squad decided on this dance because the squad attended a camp during the summer with college cheerleaders and they practiced the performance. They ended up really liking it so they decided to do it before the powderpuff game.

Weiland said she really liked this year’s performance. The only thing she would want to change was make the performance a little bit longer. She liked it a lot so she didn’t want it to stop so early.

Cheer coach Trista Lynner said that she really enjoyed the dance and would do it again,

but the cheer squad will keep working on new choreography.

The week of Homecoming is always a great time for the Mount Vernon Community District; they have a week full of fun days and a powderpuff game the day before the football team plays their homecoming game.
