The Mount Vernon-Lisbon boys cross country team placed first at regionals in Anamosa on Thursday, beating second placed Fort Madison by 20 points. Marion came in third. The top three finishers for MV-L were senior Conner Smock, first place, (16:39), junior James Wenzel, 7th place (17:33), and senior Garrett Ruth, 8th place,(17:49).
The MV-L girls also will advance to state with a 3rd place finish in Anamosa. Solon and Davenport Assumption came in first and second at the meet. The top two finishers for MV-L were freshman Kendra Schmidt, 5th place, (16:25.8), and junior Lauren Wilch, 8th place, (16:37.6)
