The Mount Vernon Archery Team ended the Iowa NASP season on a high note. The team brought 51 archers to the Iowa NASP State Tournament in Des Moines on Friday, February 25. The high school team finally reached its goal of 3000 points by
scoring 3049. The middle school archers all shot as individuals, because of NASP team rules for minimum number of girls on the team. “Many archers shot their personal best, and we would probably have beaten our top team score this weekend,” claimed Coach Tom
Wilkinson. “Nevertheless, we had a lot to celebrate.” Mount Vernon had its best showing all year at the state tournament. The high school squad placed 6th with 3049 (74). Blaise Anton, 5th grader at Mount Vernon Middle School, had the top score for his division at the state
tournament with 276 (13). Blaise also was on the All-State Team and placed 4th in the Iowa NASP League Season for Male-Elementary Division.
