“Hey how’s it going today, can I help you find anything?” That’s what local Ace Hardware employee Chase Martin says to customers when they walk into the store. Martin is a senior at Mount Vernon High School, and has been a local in the town of Mount Vernon his whole life.

Martin has worked at Ace for two months. You can find Martin in his jeans and red vest on a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Just trying to “Get that money” so he can pay for gas, stocks in the stock market, and other things he wants. “It also will look good on my resume too,” he said He only plans on working at Ace through his senior year, then move on to different things.

Martin helps customers find what they need, like tools, paint, and anything needed to finish their projects. He stocks shelves when the shelves are looking a little empty, and assembles lawn equipment like weed eaters, and chainsaws. You could also find him cleaning out the popcorn machine with a few pieces of popcorn in his mouth along the way.

“All the people I work with are very helpful and nice to be around,” Matin said about his co workers. Some of his co workers are classmates like senior Connor Bilden, Junior David Hermsen-White, and Alex Lueth (‘17).

  Martin said that he job is pretty easy to do and fun. But he doesn’t like that there is a lot of down time to keep yourself busy. Other than the down time he really likes the job.
