Voting for the bond at Mount Vernon now is even easier. This year, seniors who are 18 and teachers have a convenient location to share their opinion on the bond. Mount Vernon High School is offering an alternate satellite location, from the usual location of City Hall, for community members to place their early vote on Thurs., March 22, from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
The bond would allow the district to get a new auditorium, new science and art classrooms, and many other improvements. Seniors who are 18 can take part in this vote.
Ben McGuire is one senior that is excited to have the chance to vote. “I’m going to vote on the bond issue because this is my first opportunity to vote for anything as an adult and I want to take advantage of that opportunity,” said McGuire. “I won’t be able to use the facilities, but my brother will and it’s going to be what is best for the kids of Mount Vernon in the future.”
The traditional vote will take place at City Hall on April 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
