The Mt. Vernon speech team is hosting the WAMAC Individual Speech Contest on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Our team will compete with several other districts in the area at this daytime event. Organizers Karla Moran and Amy White need help from community members to provide school greeters, room hosts, event timers, concession workers and score tabulators. Please contact Karla (213-0147, [email protected]) or Amy (895-8352, [email protected]) if you are interested in helping with the conference in some capacity or have any questions about what is involved. Individual speech events include original oratory, public address, expository address, spontaneous speaking, radio broadcasting, poetry and prose reading, acting, and solo musical theatre, among others. Mt. Vernon has a large and successful speech team and this is a great way to see what this exciting activity is all about!
