Junior Cassidy Steines has earned Two Gold Key awards for excellence in photography for her volleyball and speech yearbook photos in Quill and Scroll’s Yearbook Excellence Contest. With these wins, Cassidy is eligible to apply for Quill and Scroll Scholarships and has been given two Gold Key pins. Quill and Scroll is an international honor society for high school journalists whose Yearbook Excellence Contest received over 2000 entries from all over the United States and as far away as Shanghai, and awarded prizes to 266 national winners in reporting, design, and photography.
In addition, four student journalists have been inducted into the Quill and Scroll Society, and will be allowed to wear a cord at graduation to signify this achievement. Senior Taylor Hauser and juniors Hannah Wieditz, Laura Deininger, and Cassidy Steines qualified for the honor by being in the top third of their class, participating for at least two years in a school publication, performing excellent work in that publication and taking a publications class.
