Reflections on Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity Home Building Site
By Preston Hoeppner
On Sept. 7 we went to Solon to work on a house. I can relate to this because I also lived in a Habitat house most of my life in Coralville. Today, Travis, Trevor, Kyle and I took apart mail boxes and moved them. It was really fun until we had to keep moving them!
Also today this trip brought us as a class closer. Last year we were also close and this year we welcomed new faces. It started off awkward and boring but after today I can see that this is going to be a good year.
After we finished the mailboxes, Trevor, Cory, Kyle and I cleaned out the garage and moved boxes into the basement. We were all so hot but we pushed through it to get the job done. I think today made a big impact on the rest of the school year. I am excited to see what is in store for the future.
