The Mount Vernon boys’ cross country team came in first at the Solon Invitational on Sept 18.
“There was a lot of good competition there, and we ran as hard as we could, so it felt pretty nice to win.”, sophomore Jack Ossenkop said.
Both the boys’ JV and Varsity teams were up against nine other teams. “I believe that if we keep improving, then we would have a good chance to place at the state meet.”, junior Jackson Meeker said.
The top finisher for Varsity was senior Garrett Herring with a time of 17:08, and the top finisher for JV was senior Nick Leopold with a time of 18:38.
The cross country team takes on Iowa City West tomorrow at 4:30 at the University of Iowa Ashton Cross Country Course.
