Mount Vernon volleyball, coming off a two losses, walloped Anamosa Sept. 15. The Mustangs win was aided by a stunning 19 aces, five of which came from junior, Libby Ryan.
Scores of the contest were 25-11, 25-17, 25-18.
Ryan said, “Nobody’s play really stood out, we all just played really solid.” The team had 37 kills, nine of which were slammed down by Rory Light. She was helped by Kaitlyn Volesky, Katie Wycoff and Wynne Vandersall who each had eight, seven and six kills respectively.
The win took the Mustangs to 11-4 on the season. “It was a good win… but we have to stay focused and keep winning games,” junior Sydney Meeker said. The Mustangs, who took second place in the state tournament last year, are looking to take another shot at the championship this season.
