Do you like sports so much to the point where you want to have your own team? Then get some friends or family to play fantasy football with you. Fantasy football is an online sports game where you can draft your players and then go head-to-head against your friends.
Fantasy football is a game using strategy to compete with friends or family, with the end goal of making money and earning respect. This game allows people to draft players like it were real life. This makes it fun for people to enjoy drafting players they want, but still compete with friends and try to win the week.
How to win is by players getting points for your team. For example, players get points as a quarterback, running back, or wide receiver/tight end, by getting yards or scoring a touchdown. A way to lose points is by either throwing an interception or fumbling the ball.
“My record right now is 4-4,” sophomore Trae Bielefeld said. “My flex positions are underperforming and my players are dealing with some injuries, making it harder for me to win games.” He has been struggling with his flex positions, Jordan Addison and Quinshon Judkins, two players struggling with staying consistent in points and trying to stay healthy. Flex positions can be hard because you never know what position they are going to play in a game. Most of them aren’t the starting receiver or running back.
“There are a lot of key players that are helping teams win games,” sophomore Gabriel Grafft said. “My wide receivers are good, for example, Rashee Rice is already starting to roll even after playing only three games. He had two touchdowns last week, and one this weekend.” It also helps that he has a top 5 quarterback in Patrick Mahomes to help him throughout the season.
Trading players could be helpful or hurtful. “I decided to trade Derrick Henry to Trae. I did this because Derrick Henry was struggling for me, not scoring enough points,” sophomore Ryan Hepker said. “In return, I got Courtland Sutton and Jacoby Crosky Meritt. This trade has helped me this year more than it has helped Trae.”
“I chose to trade Chase Brown and Travis Kelce for Mathew Stafford and Breece Hall,” Grafft said. “I chose to do this because I needed a quarterback since Jayden Daniels got hurt, and Breece Hall has played better than Chase Brown, since the Jets’ wide receiver is now out for four weeks. I’m hoping that my two players I traded for can show up this week in the game.”
Most of the good players last year are not playing that well this year. For example, Saquon Barkley won OPOY ( offensive player of the year) and was ranked the best running back in the league coming off his best season yet. He even got on the Madden cover. This year, he is currently ranked the 10th-best running back. This isn’t bad, but it could be better. And the n like Hepker said, “Derrick Henry has been struggling a lot with getting points, but was the second-best running back in the league last year. This makes it harder for me to win games.”
There was a huge number of trades during the trade deadline, including star players and high-scoring players. Most of the trades were made by teams that were struggling to win or weren’t scoring many points. One trade was for Ryan Hepker, and he traded AJ Brown in return for Jordan Addison and Harold Fannin. Another is Holden Hlavacek and Bielefeld, where Holden gets Derrick Henry and Quinton Johnson for James Cook. And the biggest trade of the day was between Teddy Bonewald and Jackson Krug. Teddy acquired Michael Pittman and Jake Ferguson from Sam Laporta, Rachaad White, and Zay Flowers. So far, everyone feels a little more confident because of the trades they made and is now excited for the playoffs.
Fantasy is an amazing activity to do with your family and friends because it provides a fun and competitive game that can foster good moments of friendship. Fantasy lets you be able to draft players like it’s real life and enjoy the moment.
