If you went to an archery meet this year, you most likely saw Trid Kleiber win the position of the top Mount Vernon archer. With a low of 258 points out of 300 and a high of 278, Trid won five of seven meets and made a team record. “I just enjoy shooting things,” he said.
It all started his freshman year when the trap shooting coach, Tom Wilkinson, approached him about trying archery. “I’m glad he went out for it; he has a good eye for shooting things,” Coach Wilkinson said. Even though he enjoys shooting, he finds the most fun in the less serious side of archery. “I like the social gathering of ‘amigos de Trid,’” he said, “and the fun competitions of shooting arrows off the floor or shooting at the feet of the targets.”
Serious or no, Trid ranked as high as 14th in the state and ended the season well in 19th place in the male high school league.
