UPDATE March 5: Our basketball girls lost to Davenport Assumption 39-50 today. They are second in the state, but first in our hearts! What a ride! The Mustangs had the endurance to beat the Sabers soundly, 41-29, after a game that was close for the first three quarters. Second-ranked Mount Vernon (24-2), who were the 2A state champs last year, will face fourth-ranked Davenport Assumption (24-2) in Saturday’s class 3A final at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
