This video recalls an unforgettable season by the Mount Vernon Boys’ Basketball team coached by Ed Timm in 2012. They were WAMAC Conference Champions for the first time since 2003, and got Mount Vernon Basketball back on the right track. Jack Keleher and Jake Timm made the All Tournament team and Timm was named captain. This was the first State Championship by the Boys Basketball team since 1974. The 2012 Mustangs finished with a record of 23-4.

This video is one of a series created by high school students for the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street exhibit Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America which will be on display at the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa, from March 18-April 29, 2018.
