Archery Club Places Third in Tournament

Both the Mount Vernon High School and Middle School Archery Clubs placed third out of eight schools at the Mount Vernon Invitational Jan. 15. The teams also posted their best club scores ever, 2982 for the high school, and 2600 for the middle school. Coach Tom Wilkinson believes that if the Mount Vernon Club continues to improve like they have been, they are going to break through with a tournament title this year, even though other schools have had archery teams for a longer time. The top scoring high school female from Mount Vernon was Whitney Woods, who came in 11th place with 252 points and 4 bulls-eyes. The top scoring MVHS male was Trid Kleiber, in 9th place. Trid scored 264 points and had 7 bulls-eyes. The first place high school team was Alburnett with 3057 points.

The top score for the Mount Vernon Middle School team came from Gage Lochner with 248 points and 8 bulls-eyes. At the elementary level, Addie Rand came in 8th place, and Brandon Lochner came in 7th. A perfect team score is 3600 and 360 bulls-eyes, and it is calculated by taking the top 12 scores of a team co-ed team of 16-24 archers.
