The flag football powder puff game was played at the old middle school field in Mount Vernon on Thursday, Sept. 21. When the game started around 8 p.m. it was 78 degrees with a breeze. The game was played between the Bikers (freshman and junior girls) and the Surfers (sophomore and senior girls). The final score was 7-0 Surfers. The game was announced by juniors Ryan Clark and Alina Merlak.
The quarterback for the Surfers was Kyli Orr and for the Bikers it was Sammy Moss. Both defences were quick to pull flags making this a low-scoring game. Many passes were dropped between both teams as well. The score was 0-0 at halftime and the only touch down scored was a pass received by Sydney Hauser in the fouth quarter.
The senior class powder puff team is now undefeated with a record of 4-0. Preston Shultz has been a head coach all four years. “It’s a good feeling to see all of the girls work hard to achieve 4-0,” he said. “The hardest part (of coaching) is teaching the girls who don’t know anything about football how to play because of all of the rules.”
