With homecoming week comes lots of decisions: what dress to get, who to go to the dance with, or who to twin with on twin day. But we don’t all see the decisions that are made behind the scenes. The student council has to pick dress up days, administration decides what activities we’re going to do at the pep rally, and the students argue over the theme of powder puff, with seniors getting the final decision
This year, we went through four different theme ideas. Some themes were too controversial, and others too childish. “I felt like every idea that was brought up was shot down.,” said senior Jessika Brokel.
One of the first ideas was based on the election, having a team of Hillary Clinton’s against a team of Donald Trumps. “I would wear really orange foundation and slick my hair all to one side to look like trump,” said senior Rachel Bell
The second idea some students had was Toddler’s vs. Gorillas based off a recent national news story that some students have been using as an internet joke. We later decided this theme was in bad taste.
The third idea was Ninja Turtles vs. Power Rangers. “This one would’ve been fun for dressing up, but nobody wanted to be Power Rangers,” said Brokel
Finally, the students decided on a theme that was in good taste, easy and fun to dress up for and not too controversial. Beauties vs. Beasts.
