Imagine if Mount Vernon High School had their own Knights of the Round Table. If we did, it would certainly be the student council, a group of students who are the voice of the school and where all activities are represented. This group is led by the student council president, Norah Weber. Weber has been a part of the Student Council for three years and was vice president her junior year. She is an active student at the high school, participating in band, choir, speech, and theatre, and through her activities and Student council, her leadership skills have grown.
“The student council president should be motivated to make a change,” Weber said, “and they should care. I like getting to use my personal ideas to benefit the school, and I like to work with the people we have. Everyone has good ideas.”
Communication Coordinator Clara Vavricek and Secretary Malena Koehn weighed in with their opinions about Weber’s leadership.
“Norah is not only smart and capable but also an incredibly charismatic and sympathetic person,” said Vavricek.
Koehn added to this, saying, “She is the kindest soul and always takes in and cares about the ideas and opinions of others in the student council.”
Weber has thoroughly enjoyed her time in Student Council, and she particularly enjoys working with the other members, who represent all grades at the high school.
“Everyone is good at their jobs,” Weber said. “No one slacks.” She recommended any student who wants to level up their high school experience to try to run for student council. “You get to work with really cool people. It’s a great opportunity to use your ideas to impact the community and the school.”
