A party-sized pack of Doritos in hand and Dr. Pepper, ready to quench his thirst, but only one thing can quench his thirst for action, mystery and drama. With a few precise clicks on his Visio T.V. remote, the Netflix original series Stranger Things becomes the foundation for another night in sophomore Jack Bauer’s life.
Since the show’s premier in 2016, Bauer has been a major fan, wat
ching up to four episodes at a time. He’s described himself as being entranced while binging for countless hours, completely immersed in the plot and characters.
Billy Hargrove, an important antagonist in Stranger Things, is Jack’s favorite character. “There’s no way around it, he’s just hot,” he says. “Everything around him is just immaculate.” On a deeper level though, Bauer feels he can sympathize with both Billy and his younger step sister Maxine Mayfield because of their unkind and toxic actions and relationship, as he has a difficult relationship with his siblings as well.
Bauer hopes that in the well awaited fifth season of Stranger Things, Maxine will wake up from the cliff hanging coma she had succumbed to in the finale of the previous season and help her friends save the day once again. No matter what happens though, Bauer can’t wait to get comfortable once again and be engulfed in the magic of the series.

“He’s usually laying on his bed with his feet up in the air when he watches T.V.,” said junior Lyn Bauer, Jack’s sister, “and tells me to go away if I’m ever with him.” Jack doubts the reliability of his sister though, saying he’s never done anything like that before; clearly much hearsay surrounds the topic.
Occasionally Bauer sees fan theories and other opinions on social media, but doesn’t tend to buy into them. However, there are certain hypotheses that he believes are indisputable, saying the character Will Byers definitely has romantic feelings for his friend Mike Wheeler.
As the fanatic he is, Bauer’s love for mystery stems into other aspects of his life. He searches for books and films with similar themes in hopes of emulating the feeling that watching Stranger Things once gave him. Even though he misses old times, he said “It’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved in the first place.”
