The JV girls were able to secure second place against nine other teams this Tuesday at the West Delaware invitational XC meet. In addition to placing second, over fifty percent of the JV runners achieved their personal bests. The team’s average time of finish dropped by over two minutes since their previous race and their average spread decreased by two minutes, as well. With nine teams at the meet, there was a large crowd of spectators in attendance rooting for their favorite teams.

Sue Deibner, one of the team’s coaches, was extremely happy with how the girls performed. “I was sooooo excited and proud of them,” she said. “We have a very strong JV team. Certain JV runners have been achieving a PR nearly every week.” As the cross-country season nears its end, the runners have been giving it their all at their final few meets.

That being said, after the race, some of the runners were left wanting more. Alice Conroy, a senior from Mount Vernon who placed fourth at the meet said, “I know my limits and I just didn’t push myself hard enough this meet.”

Kambree Hultquist, a junior, was very happy with the conditions at the meet. “It wasn’t super hot or cold,” she said. “I thought it was nice, there weren’t too many hills except for the big one at the end, but we all need a good challenge.”

The JV girls will race again Thursday, October 15 at the WaMaC Conference Meet in Williamsburg.
