Excitement takes over as the Mustangs advance into the Semi-Finals. The Mustangs will play ELC on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Keeping the ball from her opponent, Senior Peyton Simpson(25) decides what her next move shall be.

Senior Jonah Williams is crowned the Wing Eating Champion during halftime.

Sophomore Courtney Franck(10) drives the ball in to go into halftime. The Mustangs had a 25-point lead at 45-15 going into the 3rd quarter.

The Mustangs showed out on Feb. 26th for the 3A State Quarterfinal, beating the Harlan Cyclones 67-25.

Senior Josie Neihaus(22) drives the ball under the net to make a play. After a tough injury near the beginning of the season, Neihaus has made her way back up after her recovery.

With all his strength, senior lineman Tavian Gorsch (60) battles his opponent. The Mustangs finish the night 1-0 once again against the Keokuk Chiefs with a score of 56-7. Mount Vernon ends the regular season as District Champs with a record of 8-1. The Mustangs will play the first round of playoffs at the MAC on Oct. 28 against the Independence Mustangs.
