By Cory Brannaman–
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from Germany.
Q: How old are you?
A: 16
Q: Who is your host family?
A: I’m living with the Schreders (Riley Schreder).
Q: What are some of your hobbies and interests?
A: I used to play soccer and tennis in Germany. I will go out for soccer or track here in spring.
Q: Why did you want to become a foreign exchange student?
A: I went here because I just wanted to have a change in my life, see a different country and live another “life”.
Q: What were your expectations/stereotypes of the US before you came here?
A: I really didn’t expect a lot because I had no idea what it would be like.
Q:What is one incident that most sticks out in your mind as something you’ll have to make sure to tell everybody back home about?
A: Maybe that school is a little bit easier.
When I get back I will tell my friends that an exchange is just an awesome thing and they should do it too. And that I got my drivers license here.
Q: How does Mount Vernon compare to your school back home?
A: The schools in the U.S.A. are a lot more easy and we can’t choose our classes. But your schools are in a lot better shape. Our schools are way more poor and not so beautiful.
Q: What activities were you involved in at school back home?
A: I wasn’t involved in any sports at the school because we go to clubs and just have like one or two school sports, not including soccer.
Q: What are some of the things you especially want to do during your year here?
A: I want to go to Miami and California. I want to get my license.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add that we didn’t cover?
A: There are not that many parties in Iowa or rave clubs.
