A: Cairo, Egypt

A: 17
Q: Who is your host family?
A: The Halliers
Q: What’s your family like back home?
A: I like them. have two brothers; one’s fourteen and the other is three.
Q: What are some things you like to do?
A: I play basketball, and I like computer games and video games.
Q: What are some stereotypes you heard of the US before you came here?
A: That there are gangsters and no one wants to go to school.
Q: What do you do for fun in Egypt?
A: Hang out with friends. All the places are open so we can stay out until 1 a.m. It’s fun.
Q: What are your schools like back home?
A: The students don’t move around, the teachers come to us. We can’t choose our classes.
Q: What do you like about school here?
A: There are no uniforms. And I can have study halls and there is P.E. every day.
Q: What is your favorite class here, and why?
A: Computer Business Application because I like computer stuff.
Q: Did you have any problems coming to the U.S.?
A: My family didn’t like it (the idea of being gone for a year) at the beginning–especially my mother.
Q: What is some good advice?
A: If you do something bad, try to foabout it. Also smile and be happy.
