In the freshman basketball game Tuesday, Jan. 28, Mount Vernon played Clear Creek Ammana. Mount Vernon beat CCA handily, 65- 31. Trenton Baty led the way with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremy Krogman had 13 points and 10 assists, many of which were to Trenton.
In the pregame, coach Matt Huber said, “We will win as long as we minimize turnovers and take care of the ball.” He went on to say that they need to work the ball inside to the post.
The ball definitely got inside to the post. Trenton lead the team in points and rebounds with his first double double of the year. Trenton scored the first 7 points of the game and 11 of Mount Vernon’s first 22. After the game he said “I was just in the zone, and my teammates saw that, so they kept passing me that ball. I am thankful for them; without them I would have never had this game.”
After the game, a very happy coach Huber said to his team, “This is the kind of basketball that is fun to watch. You guys played great and had great effort.”
