Homecoming king and queen, Landon Wilson and Grace Hale, were crowned Thursday, Oct. 2 after the homecoming parade. The crowd erupted with cheers the moment their names were announced, and the crowd’s energy filled the stadium.
“I’m not surprised that their names were called,” said senior Dakota Macchione. “Grace has that Jesus glow and is the sweetest person ever!” Others in the stands agreed, also pointing out Wilson’s leadership on the football field and Hale’s constant involvement. Classmates have described both as approachable, hardworking, and the type of students who bring energy and kindness wherever they go.
As the stadium lights were shining overhead, Wilson stood in disbelief as the crown was placed on his head. “I was very surprised and excited,” Wilson said. “I didn’t really know what to expect, but I definitely had a lot of fun and will remember it for a long time.” His teammates and friends rushed to congratulate him, celebrating the moment with cheers and laughter.
Hale reflected on the moment with emotion, saying she immediately thought about the people who had shaped her high school experience. “I just thought about everyone I’ve gotten to hang out with, talk with, be with throughout my four years,” she said.
“Literally the most grateful ever,” Hale added. “I am thankful for every single person and all the people who added up to voting for me.”
Both Hale and Wilson were honored to represent their school in such a special way. As the night ended, the two posed for photos with friends, their crowns gleaming under the stadium lights, marking a night they’ll never forget.
