There are a lot of pro golfers nowadays, and people have always wondered how hard it is to golf, so Calvin Crawford is here to talk about golf. Crawford is a 5 ‘3 sophomore in high school who has a dream of becoming a pro golfer one day. Crawford said that having a clear mind is important while playing golf. “I try to stay as calm as I can so I can be steadier, and could have a more accurate hit.” He also said, “If I don’t stay calm and relaxed, then that’s what will cause me to play terribly.”
Like many golfers, Crawford got his love of the sport from his dad. “As a little kid, my dad used to take me to the range with him, and that’s what gave him the spark to play when he grew up,” Crawford said.
Crawford said he has realistic expectations for himself as a golfer. “I don’t have high standards for golf, but I want to be good and play for fun,” he said.
Golf made Crawford the person that he is now. ¨I always try to focus on being a team player and encouraging everyone else so nobody gets mad with themself or frustrated and ends up playing badly. I also try to keep myself calm so I don’t bring down the team.¨
Crawford said he has been influenced most by his family. ¨My biggest supporter is probably my dad because he is the one who always keeps me positive and encourages me to keep playing. I also think my brothers are, too, because they kind of teach me how to play and want me to be good.¨
To prepare for this upcoming season, he said, ¨I try to get as much practice as I can before the season starts and see what I do wrong.¨
Looking forward, Crawford said, ¨I can’t wait to see where this upcoming season takes me, and I hope that you will see me in state.”
