Clash of Clans has recently made a resurgence in Mount Vernon High School. The main clan, MVClashers, is led by sophomore Alex Briesemeister. The clan started with just a few members, but has recently made the jump up to 42 members. “I’m very proud of how well the clan is doing and the participation we’ve seen,” Briesemeister said.
Briesemeister has multiple responsibilities as the clan leader, “There are a lot of things I’m in charge of. I keep track of who needs to be kicked for inactivity, I schedule clan wars, and send out the sign-up. I promoted Jacob Yock to co-leader to help me with some of these day-to-day responsibilities.”
One of the things Briesemeister tries to stress is clan wars. Clan wars benefit the clan with gold and elixir if they win. “I really try to push the guys to do clan wars because they immensely benefit the clan as a whole and make our clan look better,” Briesemeister said. Thankfully, some of our best players like Toby Neal participate, and that really sets the tone for other members.” MVClashers has won three straight clan wars and hopes to keep their streak alive.
Clash of Clans is a game where players can come together and create a clan to fight other clans. Known as clan wars, each player receives two attacks and hopes to “three-star” the opponent. The clan with the most overall stars and damage percentage wins the match.
Briesemeister said sometimes being the clan leader can become a burden. He feels pressure to log on and manage the clan, which can become tiring. “Some days I don’t feel like hopping on, but I know what we’re working towards and what that requires,” Briesemeister said.
Briesemeister is hopeful for the outcome of the clan, saying, ”I know we’re a young clan, but I know we can and will rise through the ranks.” Briesemeister also stated, “A lot of clans quit after a month or two, but I don’t see that happening with our clan. It’s different.”
