Mount Vernon Girls Basketball won their second ever State Championship March 7, defeating Dubuque Wahlert 47-36. It came after an uncomfortably close 3A semifinal game against #5 Estherville Lincoln Central 35-34 on March 6, and a quarterfinal win against West Marshall 75-19 on March 3 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The Mustangs finished the season 26-1, with their only loss early on in the season to Cedar Rapids Prairie.
