Girls Wrestling Takes Fifth at the Opening Tournament

Junior Libby Dix pins her opponent in 17 seconds to advance to the third round. Dix won the tournament at 190. The team finished 5th overall at the South Tama invitational on Nov. 16.

Cooper Krob locks the arm of his opponent from Davenport Assumption to attempt to set up a pin Feb. 4 at regionals. Krob, who usually wrestles at 106, wrestled at 113 to win by fall over Peter Nguyen. Krob's pin gave the team their first 6 points in their 34-31 win over Assumption. Mount Vernon will advance as a team to compete in Class 2A State Duals on Feb. 8 at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
