Senior Khloe Rand has been in multiple plays and musicals over the years but this fall she took on a new role as director of the Welcome Back fall play, Leaves. She is the first student to fully direct a play.
Rand has been involved in one play, three musicals, one dinner theater, and has student directed a play, but she says, “This experience solidified in my mind that working in theater is something I would like to do.” Rand intends to go into secondary mathematics with an endorsement in theater and speech.
Leaves was presented on September 23 and 25. The show was about a girl who returns from college after an attempted suicide and how her family deals with it. Looking back on the show, Rand comments, “I was very happy with the show. I left each night feeling so proud of my actors. They worked so hard and put so much work in, and the tech crew did a great job.”
Leaving with a last piece of advice, Rand suggests, “Try new things. Go out for a club that you wouldn’t have thought to do. It’s so cliche but it really is true.”
