The Mount Vernon varsity volleyball team beat South Tama in both sets and beat CCA in three sets on Monday, Oct. 11 at Mount Vernon High School.

The Mustangs played South Tama and CCA. The volleyball team beat South Tama 21-7 in the first set and 21-8 in the second set. Then they played Clear Creek Amana 21-18 in the first set, 13-21 in the second set, 15-9 in the third set and won the game.

“We had some tough losses last week the fact that we came ready to go on a Monday without any practice was a credit to their focus and understanding to how important those pool play matches were,” said varsity coach Maggie Willems.

“I’m really proud of how Chloe steps up into her role on varsity, especially being an underclassman,” said senior Piper Price about outside hitter Chloe Meester, a freshman. “She played really well on Monday,” she said.
