Kian Hageman and Kai Yamanishi of team 85C are paired up with Mitchell Gage of team 85A in qualification rounds at state robotics March 27.

Four robotics teams traveled from Mount Vernon to Council Bluffs to compete at state in their first in-person tournament of the year after being limited to competing virtually to show off their robot skills and driving skills earlier in the year.

Robotics Team 85C Mount Vernon-White advanced the farthest of the teams, making it to the championship round. They formed an alliance with 2501C The Swarm from Council Bluffs for state finals, but fell in the championship round to the alliance of 2501B and 3018E, both of Council Bluffs. 85C Team members are Kian Hageman, Kai Yamanishi, and Mark Liberko. Hageman and Yamanishi accepted the Amaze award for their robot. All four teams are coached by Dave Keller.

Team 85B made it to Semifinals, and teams 85B and 85D made it to quarterfinals. Mount Vernon won the sportsmanship award and 85C won the Amaze award.
