The Mount Vernon Mustangs won the 3A regional semifinal volleyball game Wednesday against the Williamsburg Raiders 3-0.

It was a big win for the Mustangs. In the past, Williamsburg usually won one of the sets against Mount Vernon. The first set was very close and was a big battle as the set came to an end, but the Mustangs won by two points.

The next two sets weren’t as close. The second set was 25-17, and the third was 25-21. “Williamsburg had strong serves, but we put them away with big blocks and kills,” said former player Anna Nydegger.

Mount Vernon had good blocks, blocking almost everything, and they had consistent hits all throughout the game. “It was a good win. There were moments where we were down and the whole team came together, lifted each other up and rallied back to win the set. Looking forward to the next big game,” said left back Lauren Ryan.

The Mustangs will play in the regional finals against Davis County 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Montezuma Community High School.
