Another Successful Winter “Fromal”

Unlike homecoming and prom, most students at Mount Vernon go in a group of friends for winter formal. “At a school dance you don’t need a date to have fun, just surrounding yourself and dancing with the people that you love is the best part,” said senior Eli Stiner. Students go out to eat and then they dance the night away in Mount Vernon’s commons.

“I ate at the Edison in Cedar Rapids with some of my friends, we all got the mac and cheese, it was really good, ” said senior Paige Beck.

Student council sets up the night and chaperones also help. The photo booth was a big hit this year. “I really liked having the photo booth because I got to take funny pictures with my friends and have fun with them,” said junior Jenna Sprague. This year the students called the dance, “winter fromal” instead of winter formal because there was a mix up with the spelling on the photo booth strips.

The students on student council put together the music for the evening. “My favorite song was ‘Thank you Next’ because I got to jam out and dance with all of my friends,” Sprague said. Students spread all over the dance floor in small groups with their friends or their date, but when the “Cha-Cha Slide” came on everyone came together as one big group.

“My favorite part of the night was dancing with all of my friends, “ said junior Anna Nydegger.
