Looking for the Positive
September 12, 2019
The first day of school happens whether you want it to or not. Summer always seems to pass by too quickly. We look at going back to school with a negative attitude. I mean getting up early every day is not my favorite thing. I’ve always been the type of person who thinks a fresh start. Is a new chance to make mistakes.
I’m the type of person who gets anxious days before the new year starts. This year I have concluded that having a negative outlook on school has got to change. It is time to start embracing the uncertainty. The new school year gives off new aspirations and the chance to grow and learn more about the type of student and person I am.
When we focus on the negative aspect of school, it makes life appear much harder.
I thought I would share some of my favorite things about school in honor of back to school season. This is my hope to start the new year with a positive mindset.
My absolute favorite part about the new school year is seeing my best friends every day. I think about someday the fact that I will never get to see them every day again. One day I will leave them behind and I think why should I complain about seeing them every day when someday I just might miss the moments laughing in history class. The fact is over summer you don’t get to see all your friends, and I’m excited to get to see my friends five days a week.
Another thing I enjoy about school is learning new information. Now I’m not saying I enjoy math, but the satisfaction that comes with finally grasping a difficult concept is one of the greatest feelings in the world and school allows me to achieve that feeling.
I also think we should appreciate how blessed we are to get the opportunity to learn wherever we appreciate it or not. There are kids would be grateful to be given the opportunity to gain knowledge that can lead to changing the world and creating a better future. Let’s face it the world needs changing and the only way to change is by receiving an education. For that opportunity I am grateful and you should be too.
Another one of the coolest things about high school is that it gives you the chance to make new friends. This year instead of being scared of taking a mostly senior science class, I’m focusing on the opportunity I get to make new friends. I’m looking for the positive and I encourage others to try it too.
