Nick Emig, a junior at Mount Vernon High School, enjoys his dream job at Emig Performance. Emig works very hard at his parents’ repair and modification shop, helping his clients if their vehicle is damaged or needs a new look.

Emig has been working at Emig Performance, located on Mount Vernon Road, for six months and loves to work on trucks and meet new people. “I appreciate the fact that people bring their vehicles to me so I can work on them because it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.” Emig finds satisfaction in his job when he is finished working on a vehicle because of how much time was put in to fixing and tweaking it until the clients’ expectations are met.

Emig finds his job the most challenging when he does not have the correct parts at his disposal for the task at hand.  This can be countered easily by going to the local auto parts store and buying the equipment he needs for the repair.

Emig most commonly relies on his gut instinct and knowledge he has learned from his family to help him solve problems in the shop, “I trust myself and think ‘I know what I am doing’ to help fix things,” said Emig.
