Story by Tyler Stine

Ryan Clark (‘19) is a successful student in fine arts at Mount Vernon High School, and has been able to balance this with sports his entire high school career. In fine arts Clark participated in chamber choir, jazz choir, concert choir, and the spring musical throughout high school.

Thad Wilkins, the director of theater and choir said “Ryan is a person that is pretty hard on himself and expects good results.” This shows how dedicated and hard working Ryan is not just in fine arts but everything he is involved in at Mount Vernon High School.

Ryan, with many of his friends and classmates, went to to all-state for concert choir his senior year and was able to earn awards. Ryan also has played multiple major roles in musicals like George in Drowsy Chaperone and Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. In athletics Ryan enjoys playing baseball, football, track, and wrestling. Clark is a three-time state qualifier and took 5th place at the 2018 Iowa high school state wrestling tournament.
