As the cold air takes place of the warm air, fall is here. It’s football season and every student is pumped up and ready on Friday nights. High school students are buzzing about the powder puff game on Thursday, the big game on Friday night, and the homecoming dance on Saturday. Every student is having fun with the dress up days throughout the week, even the elementary school! The elementary school had loads of fun this past week supporting the sports teams and the band.
As the school day starts on Monday, all of the kids show up showing off their hats for hat day. And on Tuesday, they all walk in, including the teachers, supporting their favorite teams. Wednesday was neon day, Thursday was pajama day and Friday was spirit day, where everyone supported the school by wearing any school related things. Between all of the grades, the favorite dress up day was pajama day.
“Eastin W. has gone all out this week. Monday she wore a purple squid hat, Tuesday she had a Hawkeyes jersey and a pair of black and yellow striped overalls, and yesterday she wore neon leggings, shirt, bandana, beads, and gloves,” said elementary teacher Kari Martin when she was asked who dressed up the best in her class.
“Our class walked over to listen to the marching band practice,” said begindergarten teacher Jan Moore. “Wow! We were so mesmerized! It was awesome! We did a cheer for them as a sign of our appreciation and to thank them for working so hard,” she said of the performance on the practice field during the day.
The kids have been doing crafts like writing journal entries about high school sports like volleyball, football and cross country and coloring figures of people that were printed out for them. They talked about the parade and the football game to see who was going to either event. And on Friday they hosted their own Pep Rally where some of the band, football and volleyball players, cross country runners and cheerleaders came to help out. They got the kids fired up and ready for the football game later that night.
