Robotics team qualifies for World Championships

Mount Vernon’s team #458 finished in first place as a member of the Alliance team at the Iowa First Technical Challenge (FTC) Robotics Championship held at the Iowa Memorial Union Saturday, Feb. 26. They qualified for the World Championships which will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, in late April. They also won one of the 6 awards given, the Motivate Award. Forty-seven robots competed in the event.

Team #458 (Operate Go Initiative!) members: Project Manager: Forrest Scott; Build Team: Stephen Gruber Miller, Nicholas Liberko, Ben Lyon; Programming Team: Matthew Lichty, Daniel Riechers, Matt Peiffer; Marketing Team: Lynaea Kiefer, Tim Gruber Miller, Ashley Neal.

Team #3549 (Robotinists) won the 2nd highest award given, the Think Award, and because of this award, they will have a lottery chance to win an invitation to St. Louis. Team members: Project Manager: Abigail Chihak; Build Team: Kayla Burkhart, Paul Chihak, Macon, Programming Team: Hunter Lind, Robert Banwart, Alex White. Marketing Team: Catie Sheehy, Mildred Chihak, Claire Gruver-Pandich.
