Spring Break!

Spring+Break%21

By Reese Panos

Spring Break is a time of the year all students look forward to, and it will be here March 12-16. It is a break from classes, extra time to work or hang out with friends and some are even lucky enough to travel somewhere and spend quality time with their family. Who wouldn’t want to go somewhere warm and hang out on the beach?

Junior Ryan Clark is getting ready to go to Alabama with his family. He says, “I’m excited to go because it gives me a mental break from the stress of school, I also get to spend time with my family.”

As a high schooler you have a lot on your plate, especially if you are an upperclassman. Upperclassmen have to stay on top of grades as well as do college visits, take the SAT or ACT and start saving money for college. There is not a lot of time during the school year to complete these tasks so it is great to have a week of down time to work on them. If you manage your time well you may be able to complete these tasks and enjoy yourself. Some students even make a college visit into a spring break trip. Junior Alina Merlak is going to visit Michigan State and Purdue and said, “I am visiting colleges over break so I can start to figure out where I am going to go after high school. Hopefully, I can figure out where I want to apply after these visits.”

Some kids even take up a new hobby or go somewhere close with family and friends, a staycation! There are so many interesting places near Mount Vernon that you could visit. Junior Jake Panos is going to a waterpark in Des Moines with his cousins, “we meet at the same hotel every year,” he says. Whatever you do with that week, don’t forget to relax and unwind! Use the time to catch up on sleep, have fun with friends and recharge. Make as many memories as possible, because high school goes faster than you know it!
